Free Event: Improv Performance 24th July
Tues 24 July @ 8pm: A LyricalMyrical book launch featuring the Wu Tsang Nixons - with the amazing Rick Sacks on percussion and myself on violin. 20 minutes of more-or-less-free improv. FREE event. Where: The Central, 603 Markham St., 1 block west of Bathurst & Bloor, next to Honest Eds (see description below). The Central, Markham Street's newest nightlife addition, is a sophisticated addition to this historic street -- taking over what was once a budding arts hotspot and continuing its legacy. It's a dark, romantic venue that is part bar, part restaurant and part music venue, with two spacious patios, a tunnel-like music room and original 1920s hardwood floors and exposed brick.
Belated Update!
THANK YOU to all who attended my Hot-Sauced (May 24) and Cryptic Chatter (June 8) readings ... yes that's right, I forgot to post Cryptic here, and gave the wrong date for Hot-Sauced - apologies and thanks to all who pointed this out! Thursday 21 June 2007 @ 8:30pm: I'll be featuring at the Sabbat Nights reading series at the Central, 603 Markham Street (nr Bloor/ Bathurst). Admission FREE. Hosted by Craig Grant. Sunday 24th June 2007 @ 4pm: Mimico Chamber Orchestra - an outdoor concert in the garden of the Assembly Hall. FREE. All-Mozart programme. With the Mimico String Quartet: Phoebe Tsang (violin), Tom Cosbey (violin), Michael Schulte (viola) and Andras Weber (cello). For info, phone: 416-354-2701 or e-mail: eswanepoel@sympatico.ca
mega update
Thursday 25th May 2007 @ 8:30pm: I'll be appearing as a featured reader on the Hot-Sauced Words reading series. Also at this event: a performance by the Wu Tsang Nixons with special guest Rick Sacks, percussionist and Array Music founder. Sunday 06 May 2007 & 3pm: Alicier Arts Chamber Music presents our final concert of the season, a celebratory blend of musical fireworks and dynamism entitled Spanish Accents. Saturday 21 April 2007 @ 7:30pm: The Mimico Chamber Orchestra's second concert of their inaugural season. As the MCO's Concertmaster I'm really excited about the addition of this new and vital cultural voice to Toronto's West End community. I hope you will come lend your ears and support. Saturday 14 April @ 8pm: I'll be leading Sinfonia Toronto as Concertmaster for this performance, an honour and a musical treat I'm looking forward to. Sinfonia Toronto is that rarest of ensembles: a chamber orchestra with the intimacy and finesse of a chamber group and the panache of an orchestra. Tuesday 03 April 2007 @ 7pm: The Wu Tsang Nixons presented by the Poet Bureau in the Underground at the Drake Hotel 1150 Queen St W, one of Toronto's most atmospheric nightclubs. Event name: Poetry Process Performance - a collaborative word cabaret. Saturday 10th March 2007 @ 8pm: Sinfonia Toronto performs at Grace Church on the Hill. For those of you who missed our performance last Saturday, on this upcoming programme we will repeat Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Violins with soloists myself and Concertmaster Etsuko Kimura.
